Training Questions

Drake Gun Dogs offers gun dog training, puppy development, all-breed obedience training, finished gun dog training, and seasonal tune-ups


No. Gun dog training is our specialty, but we also offer obedience training for dogs of all breeds.


We train retrievers, spaniels, hunting breeds, and family dogs of all breeds for obedience. Boarding is also available for dogs of all breeds.


Training length depends on the dog, the program, and the goals. Some programs are shorter, while gun dog development and advanced training require more time. We can discuss realistic timelines after learning more about your dog.


No responsible trainer can guarantee exact results because every dog is different. What we can promise is structured training, honest communication, consistent effort, and a program built around the dog in front of us.


Yes. Our Puppy Head Start program is designed to build confidence, structure, exposure, and early foundations in young dogs.


Yes. Obedience training is available for all breeds and focuses on structure, manners, recall, place work, and better everyday behavior.


Boarding FAQ

Yes. Boarding is available for dogs of all breeds.


No. While Drake Gun Dogs specializes in hunting dogs and training, boarding is available for family dogs and dogs of all breeds.


Dogs are aired 4 times a day


Yes. Dogs are housed individually unless otherwise discussed and approved.


The boarding side includes spacious 12’ x 10’ kennels. Training dogs are housed in structured 5’ x 5’ kennels designed for routine, safety, and daily management.


Bring your dog’s regular food, feeding instructions, medications if needed, and any other important care information. All items should be clearly labeled. (Yes you can bring there toy or treats)


Yes. We recommend bringing your dog’s normal food to help keep their routine consistent and reduce stomach issues. We do carry Inukshuk dog food.


Yes, medication can be given with clear instructions. Please provide the medication in its original container or clearly labeled packaging.


Yes. Dogs must be current on required vaccinations before training or boarding. Contact us for current vaccine requirements before your dog’s stay.


Facility visits are available by appointment. Contact us to schedule a time.

Drake Gun Dogs is located in Boaz, Alabama, and serves dog owners throughout the United State.


Drake Gun Dogs operates out of a former field trial and horse barn that has been renovated into a professional dog training and boarding kennel.


Yes. Clean routines, safe handling, daily airing, fresh water, and organized care are major priorities at Drake Gun Dogs.


The kennel is cleaned and sanitized daily. 


Yes. Dogs are aired four times daily, and training dogs receive work based on their program and current stage of training.
