Tune-Up: Pre-Season Refresher for Trained Dogs

Already have a trained retriever but they’ve been out of work for a while? Our Gun Dog Tune-Up is designed to sharpen skills, rebuild responsiveness, and knock the rust off before the season kicks off.

We revisit obedience, marks, steadiness, and control around birds, gunfire, and distractions—so your dog’s not learning in the blind.

• Review & refresh of obedience and control
• Steadiness to shot and mark
• Marking drills on land and water
• Short blinds and basic casting (if applicable)
• Live bird work (ducks, pigeons)
• Conditioning for field stamina
• Customize based on the dog’s background

4 weeks depending on goals 

• Dogs that were trained last year or earlier
• Dogs that haven’t been hunted or tested in a while
• Clients prepping for hunting season or hunt tests
• Anyone wanting a “refresher” for a reliable dog

This program is not for first-time or untrained dogs. Dogs must have completed a gun dog program (with us or another pro) and demonstrate foundational skills.
