The Puppy Head Start program is designed to give young dogs the best possible foundation for life as a hunting companion and a skilled participant in gun dog training. At this stage, everything is new, and the experiences they encounter will shape their confidence and obedience training, influencing their trainability for years to come.
Socialization: Pups are exposed to new people, other dogs, and different environments, ensuring they grow up as confident and well-mannered hunting companions. Early Hunting Exposure: Gentle introductions to water, decoys, boats, and the sights and smells of live and dead birds play a crucial role in their gun dog training. Sound Conditioning: Step-by-step exposure to gunfire helps your pup learn to associate loud noises with fun, rather than fear, which is essential in obedience training. Retrieving Foundations: Engaging in play retrieves with bumpers and feathers sparks their natural drive and desire, laying the groundwork for effective gun dog training. Adventure Training: Riding in trucks, 4-wheelers, and side-by-sides makes travel second nature for your pup, preparing them for their future as a reliable hunting companion.
By the end of Puppy Head Start, your pup will be bold, social, and excited about birds and retrieving, making them a great candidate for gun dog training. They’ll have the essential building blocks in place for advanced obedience training and will develop into a lifelong hunting companion.
Training for your hunting companion takes place at our kennel in Boaz, Alabama, on private land designed specifically for real retriever work. We focus on gun dog training and obedience training, ensuring that space is limited to provide every dog with the time and attention they deserve.
